Two young women with somewhat similar physical characteristics disappeared from the same Texas city two months apart. Obviously, authorities wondered whether there was a connection. The body of one of them, Joanna Rogers, was finally found in a landfill last year, based on a confession from her suspected murderer. The other one is still missing, and a connection seems less likely. Where, then, is Jennifer Wilkerson?

Wilkerson Family Speaks on Three Year Anniversary of Daughter's
Disappearance

Parents
of a missing Lubbock woman are sharing their story on the three year anniversary
of their daughter's disappearance.
Jennifer Lynn Wilkerson vanished on July
13th, 2004, three years ago Friday. She was last seen leaving a friends house
that night. Since then, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department has interviewed
more than 50 people, 25 of whom submitted to a polygraph test, and there are
still no good leads.
"All we do know is that our daughter is missing and
we're very concerned," Jennifer's father, Jack Wilkerson, said.
Those
were the words from Mr. Wilkerson nearly three years ago. Scared and concerned
over the disappearance of his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wilkerson. Three years
later, that fear and concern continues.
"One day your frustrated that
nothing's happening. The next day you're depressed. The next day you're hopeful
and then you're feeling guilty, saying what could I be doing? Have a done
everything I could?" Mr. Wilkerson said.
Both Jack and Vikki Wilkerson have
spent the last three years searching and hoping for their daughter's safe
return.
"She loved everything. Music, books, learning. She just enjoys
life," Mr. Wilkerson added.
But the stress they experience has caused
strain in every part of their lives.
"Life goes on, but we're not getting
on. We're just getting through each day and trying to figure out a way. It's
affected our entire family," Mrs. Wilkerson said.
"We don't know what
else to do. We've pretty much put it in the sheriff department's hands and it's
up to them because we don't know what else to do," Mr. Wilkerson added.
The
Lubbock County Sheriff's Department has, in the past three years, continued the
search for Wilkerson. They've never wavered in their determination to find her.
Major Don Carter said, "As far as the Sheriff's Office is concerned, we have
never considered this a case to put on the back burner."
And three long
years later, both the Sheriff's Department and the Wilkerson Family know that
somebody knows something.
"Imagine what it would be like missing your
brother, your sister, your mother, your father, your child...someone important
to you. Imagine not knowing where they were or what would happen to them, and
put yourself in our place," Mr. Wilkerson said.

Jesus Martinez-Alvarado: Reward offered, age progression available

(He is sometimes referred to as Jesus Alvarado Martinez, . I am not sure which is correct.)
It is always nice to see a news article about someone that seems forgotten. Of course, it would have been even nicer if it had said that he was found safe and sound. Still, now people will remember that he is still missing, and maybe there will be a greater chance of him being found.

Reward Offered In Search For Accused Wife Killer, Kidnapper

A reward was offered Thursday in the search for a man accused of
killing his wife and taking off with their young child, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Avelino Martinez-Alvarado, 31, was charged with the Oct. 20, 2004, murder of
his wife, who was stabbed to death in their apartment.
Police said he also
kidnapped the couple's then-4-year-old son, Jesus Martinez-Alvarado.
Jesus,
now 7 years old, is probably not leading a normal child's life, according to
investigators, and could be in danger.
"Let's get the child back safe to his
family," HPD Officer Ramon Cervantes said.
Police said Avelino
Martinez-Alvarado has been spotted in the United States, but said they believe
he is hiding out in Mexico with his son.
An age-progressed digital picture of
Jesus was released so the public would know what he looks like now.
"Any
parent who takes their child in violation of a custody order, they don't do that
for the child's best interest. They do that for their purposes of power and
control," said Beth Alberts with the Texas Center For The Missing.
Avelino
Martinez-Alvarado and his wife had three other children, who are staying with
their maternal grandmother.

Jennifer Wilkerson now missing 2 years, Lubbock, Texas

Update (November 9, 2006): Joanna Rogers' remains were found in a landfill in Lubbock on October 24. Jennifer is still missing.
Lubbock, Texas, has not forgotten two of its residents who disappeared in 2004. Joanna Rogers' case turned two years old in May, and now it has also been two years since Jennifer Wilkerson went missing. Still, while there have been several recent developments in Joanna's case, there are few answers for the Wilkerson family because authorities are not completely sure whether the two disappearances are connected by anything other than location and year. Hopefully, there will be some answers for Jennifer's family soon!

Lubbock Sheriff's Office Still Searching For Leads In Wilkerson Case
Jennifer Wilkerson was last seen two years ago today
(Thursday) at
a friend's house in South Lubbock. Authorities tell us while
they've made
progress, they aren't any closer to learning Wilkerson's
whereabouts.
"There's been a ton of work gone into the case, as far as
eliminating
potential leads and eliminating potential suspects. So, as far as
that goes,
we've covered a lot of ground," said Captain Don Carter with the
Lubbock
Sheriff's Office.
Wilkerson disappeared July 13th, 2004 at the age
of
26. Authorities tell us they never rule anything out, but right now, there
are no links between Wilkerson's disappearance and Summer Baldwin or Joanna
Rogers.
Rosendo Rodriguez is charged with the murder of Baldwin, who's
body
was found in the city landfill last September. Last month, he also
confessed to
killing Lubbock teen Joanna Rogers who went missing May 2004.
Rodriguez
reportedly claimed he put Roger's body in a suitcase, like
Baldwin's, and dumped
it. But, Roger's body has not been found.

is pierced. She has several tattoos: a red rose with a snake wound around the
stem on her left upper arm and shoulder, a small ladybug on the right rear side
of her neck, the word "Taken" on the back of her neck, the word "Rotten" and a
butterfly on her back, a dragon wrapped around her right ankle, a fish on her
stomach, roses on her right wrist, and an unspecified tattoo around her left
leg. Wilkerson had red highlights in her hair at the time of her disappearance.
Her nickname is Jen. Some agencies refer to her as Lynn Wilkerson or Lynn
Jennifer Wilkerson.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: Blue capri pants, a red

Details of Disappearance
Wilkerson was last seen at approximately
11:00 a.m. on July 13, 2004, at her boyfriend's residence near the 2400 block of
118th Street in the south side of Lubbock, Texas. He said she left his home to
drive to her own home, then to work at Nothin' Butt Smokes. Wilkerson apparently
made it home, but she never arrived at work and has never been heard from again.
Wilkerson's car, a black 1999 Honda Civic coupe, was found parked at her
residence after her disappearance. Her house was locked and her car keys and
house keys were inside. She also left behind money and all her personal
posessions except her tan shoulder strap purse. She never contacted her employer
to say she would be absent from work, and never picked up her last paycheck.
Neither of her two roommates have heard from her.
Police stated that they
were looking for a suspicious vehicle which they believe may have been involved
in Wilkerson's disappearance. It is described as a small black truck set low to
the ground, with unique smooth hubcaps on the tires and decals in the back
window. It may be equipped with hydraulics, and may have tinted windows and
out-of-state license plates. The vehicle and its driver have not been located or
identified.
Wilkerson's family lives in New Mexico and she had been planning
to visit them before she disappeared. She was a sophomore at South Plains
College at the time of her disappearance. She was the second young woman to
disappear from the Lubbock area in the same season; Joanna
Rogers vanished from Lubbock in May 2004 and has not been found. While it is
unusual to have two women missing from a comparatively small town at the same
time, investigators have found no evidence to suggest that Wilkerson and
Rogers's cases are connected.
Authorities believe Wilkerson is missing under
suspicious circumstances and may be in danger. They are investigating her
disappearance as an abduction. Her case is unsolved.

Details of
Disappearance
Jesus was last seen at his home in northwest Houston, Texas on
October 20, 2004. He was living with his mother, Rocio Alvarado, and his
one-year-old sister at the time. Jesus's father, Rocio's husband Avelino
Martinez, was estranged from the family and had moved in with a roommate, Pedro
Vargas, in the Brampton Square Apartments in the 1300 block of Witte in Houston
a few days before. He and Alvarado were having marital problems. A photograph
and vital statistics for Avelino are posted below this case summary.
Vargas
last saw Avelino, Jesus, and Alvarado together at 9:00 a.m. on October 20, 2004.
Avelino asked to borrow his car to take their daughter to the doctor. They did
visit the doctor and afterwards planned to buy clothes for the children. Later
that day, Alvarado's relatives asked the police to check on her welfare, as they
had not seen or heard from her since the previous evening. She wasn't at her
apartment.
At 1:00 a.m. on October 21, Vargas summoned police to his
apartment after he found Alvarado's body inside his apartment on his bed. She
had been stabbed twice and strangled with a ligature; the bloody knife was left
behind. She had been covered up with the blankets and Vargas thought she was
only sleeping until her daughter began to cry and she did not wake up.
Alvarado's daughter was unharmed, but there was no sign of Avelino or Jesus.
Investigators believe Avelino murdered his wife and abducted Jesus. A
homicide warrant was issued for his arrest on October 21, 2004. There is a
history of domestic violence between the couple in their ten-year relationship,
and it was some of Alvarado's children, including Jesus, were not biologically
related to Avelino. He is believed to have used Vargas's brown or beige 1993
Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck with Texas license plates numbered
VS2-034 in his flight, but was found abandoned on October 30, on a private dirt
road off Interstate 10 and Wilpitz Road near Brookshire, Texas, in Waller
County.
Avelino and Jesus are believed to be in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico or in
Laredo, Texas, where Avelino has family. Avelino is considered armed and
dangerous and caution is advised when approaching him. Due to the nature of the
charges against his father, Jesus may be in danger.
